Denis Bunchenko

I’m Denis Bunchenko — a senior frontend engineer with about a decade of experience building web products. I work across engineering, product decisions, and technical leadership: clarifying ambiguous problems, shaping maintainable systems, and helping teams connect implementation choices to outcomes.

Away from work, the important parts are simple: I am a husband and father, I build with LEGO, ride gravel and road bikes, and run occasionally.

Selected work and outcomes

• I designed and built this trilingual personal hub, including its content architecture, editorial interface, localization system, automated SEO checks, publishing workflow, search, newsletter, and comments.
• After applying Next.js App Router migrations across several products, I turned the approach into a public migration playbook covering route structure, navigation, metadata, and data fetching.
• I have worked with projects and teams of different sizes since around 2016, often taking large or unclear problems and breaking them into decisions a team can own and deliver.

How I work

I enjoy the part of engineering that sits between code and coordination: finding the real constraint, making tradeoffs explicit, bringing the right people into a decision, and leaving the system easier to understand than I found it. Leadership, to me, is not a title; it is creating clarity and helping a team move without hiding risk.

Tools and choices

TypeScript and React are the center of my frontend experience, with Next.js when a product benefits from server rendering, routing, and an integrated application framework. I have also worked with Angular, Node.js, GraphQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and Supabase, and I am developing stronger Python foundations.

The names matter less than the reasons for choosing them. I prefer familiar tools when they lower delivery and maintenance risk, static output when a page does not need a server, and additional client-side complexity only when the interaction justifies it.
